Moong Dal Vada :
The main ingredient used for moong dal vada is yellow split moong dal. This dish originated from western india especially from rajasthan and gujrat. The making of this dish begins with soaking and the making the batter into a thick paste. This pakora's are a perfect tea time snacks.
Ingredients :
- 1 cup moong dal
- 12 cup water
- 2 green chilli finely chopped
- 1 inch ginger finely chopped
- 2 tbsp onion finely chopped
- 2 tbsp coriander finely chopped
- 1 tsp jeera/ cumin
- 10 tsp salt (as per taste)
- 72 tsp baking soda
- oil for deep frying
Method of preparation :
1. Firstly, in a large bowl soak 1 cup moong dal for 4
hours.
2. Drain off the water and blend to make a smooth paste
adding 4 cup of water.
3. Shift the prepared moong dal batter into large bowl.
4. Add 2 green chilli, 1 inch ginger, 2 tbsp onion, 2
tbsp coriander, 1 tsp jeera and salt to taste. Mix well.
5. Further add 4 tsp baking soda and mix well.
6. Heat oil in a wok.
7. Now dip your hand in water, and start dropping
them one by one to hot oil.
8. Keep the flame in lower to medium stir as per need.
9. Fry the vada till they turn golden brown.
10. Drain off the vada on to kitchen towel or tissue paper to absorb oil.
11. finally, serve moong dal vada with coconut chutney
or tomato sauce.
Note: You can also use rice flour to make thick batter.
Grilled Cheese Sandwich :
A grilled cheese sandwich is made up of varieties of cheese on bread. It is prepared by heating slices of cheese between bread with butter on frying pan or sandwich toaster, until it turns brown or the cheese starts to melt.
Ingredients
- 6 slices of bread
- 1 capsicum finely chopped
- 1 onion finely chopped
- ¾ cup cheddar cheese grated
- ½ tsp pepper crushed
- 1 tsp chat masala
- pinch of salt
- ¼ cup green chutney
- 2 tsp butter
Method of preparation :
1. In a large mixing bowl combine chopped capsicum, onion, grate ¾ cup of cheddar cheese.
2. Additionally add ½ tsp pepper, 1 tsp chat masala and salt to taste. Combine well and keep aside. The stuffing is ready.
3. Spread green chutney over a bread slice. further, spread a tbsp of prepared stuffing.
4. Cover with a bread slice spreading green chutney on both sides. Again spread prepared stuffing. Cover again with bread slice spread with green chutney. And this will form 2 layer stuffing with 3 bread slices.
5. Now grill toast on frying pan by spreading butter.
6. At last, cut half and serve cheese sandwich garnished with more grated cheese.
Note :
1. You can use cheese any of your choice.
2. You can also use oil or ghee to toast on frying pan.
Aloo Tikki :
Aloo tikki is an indian snack made out of boiled potatoes, peas and various spices. Here, "Aloo" means Potatoes and "Tikki" means small cutlet. It is usually served with green chutney and yogurt.
Ingredients :
- 3 potato / aloo boiled
- 1 chili finely chopped
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- ¼ tsp turmeric
- ½ tsp red chilli powder
- ½ tsp cumin powder
- ½ tsp aamchur
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp mint / pudina chopped
- 2 tbsp coriander chopped
- 2 tbsp corn flour
- oil for frying
Method of preparation :
1. Pressure cook potatoes for 4-5 whistles and drain off the water as soon as pressure releases. In a large mixing bowl take 3 boiled and grated potato.
2. Add 1 chilli, 1 tsp ginger garlic paste, ¼ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp chilli powder, add ½ tsp cumin powder.
3.Also add ½ tsp aamchur, and salt to taste.
4. Further, add 2 tbsp mint, 2 tbsp coriander and add 2 tbsp cornflour and mix well.
5. Mix well forming a soft dough.
6. Grease hand with oil and prepare ball-sized tikki.
7. Fry in oil until it turns golden brown. Flip over and cook on both sides.
8. Serve hot with green chutney or tamarind chutney.
Misal pav :
Misal pav is a very popular dish from maharashtra. It consists of spicy curry and a pav and it is served with sev, chopped onions. It is served as a breakfast. Misal pav is very famous street food all overy maharashtra.
Ingredients :
- 2 cup moth beans ( matki )
- 4 tsp turmeric
- salt to taste
- 2 tsp oil
- 2 inch chopped ginger
- 2 chopped onion
- 2 clove garlic
- 3 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp jeera ( cumin )
- 2 curry leaves
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- small piece jaggery (gud )
- 2 cup farsan / mixture
- 6 pav
- 1 lemon
Method of preparation :
1. In a large pan heat 3 tbsp oil and 1 tsp jeera and 2 curry leaves.
2. Add 1 tsp turmeric, 1 tsp chilli powder, 1 tsp coriander powder and 1 tsp garam masala.
3. Stir fry on low flame till spices turn aromatic.
4. Now add prepared masala paste and saute well.
5. Add in cooked matki, small piece jaggery and salt to taste and mix well.
6. Also add 5 cup water and stir continuously.
7. Boil for 10 minutes or till misal is cooked completely.
8. In a plate, take misal add some sev over it.
9. Top with chopped onions and coriander.
10. Your misal is ready to serve with pav.
Wada recipe :
Wadas are made up of ball sized aloo mixture, dipped in besan batter and deep fried. It is served with pav. Wada pav is very famous in India.
Ingredients for aloo masala :
- 2 tsp oil
- 1 tsp mustard
- pinch of hing ( asafoetida )
- few curry leaves
- 1 inch crushed ginger
- 2 clove crushed garic
- 1 chilli chopped
- 2 tbsp chopped coriander
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 2 potato boiled and mashed
- salt to taste
Ingredients for batter :
- a cup besan ( gram flour )
- 1 tbsp rice flour
- 4 tsp turmeric
- 4 tsp red chili powder
- pinch of hing
- salt to taste
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 cup water
- oil for deep frying
Method of preparation :
1. Take ball sized aloo mixture and dip in besan batter and make sure to coat well.
2. Deep fry in hot oil stirring occasionally.
3. Your Wadas are ready to serve. Serve hot with green chutney.
